Flexible PVC Glass: Pipeline Project
The German Design Council has awarded the Best of Best distinction to the PIPELINE project, a pneumatic structure developed by the company Dosis, at the 2021 edition of the Iconic Awards: Innovative Architecture.
The Iconic Awards are the first independent international competition for architecture and design, and it takes into account the interaction between various disciplines, paying special attention to holistic production and the interaction between architecture-related trades.
For its part, the German Design Council is one of the most prestigious design and architecture centres internationally, and acts as a link between designers and the construction industry. Its awards are considered an independent seal of quality of international prestige, marking contemporary developments and creative achievements.
This year’s Best of Best distinguished construction, the Dosis Pipeline, is an ultra-light and reconfigurable structure that is based on the concept of nomadic architecture. Its first use was in Paris, in February 2020, to host the Kenzo FW-20 show. Since Kenzo’s collection was inspired by nomadism and travel, the space where it was presented wanted to reflect the same spirit. It is a structure that not only dynamically adapts to each situation and location, but is transmuted depending on the conditions of the ecosystem that hosts it.
For its construction, among other materials, Dosis has used Expafol’s Clearfol® HT 650 FR in the roof of the structure, a flexible PVC glass. This flexible PVC glass has excellent transparency, for optimal visibility and integration with the environment. In addition, it is a highly UV-resistant and fireproof material.
